Baby A - Asa James Corbin came out first weighing 5lbs 1 oz
Baby B - Adeline Lee Coribn came out a minute later weighing 4 lbs 3 oz
During the c-section I was awake the entire time - I could hear babies crying...I was so excited - Brian was up by my head and he could see everything going on...Dr. Garrard even made the comment...oh, there's one more in here...to which we both laughed and said "not funny!"
My hands were immobile so I couldn't hold them but the nurses brought both bundles of joy over to Brian and put one in each arm! I remember Brian saying "What do I do with them?" the nurse said "they're yours now"! It was the sweetest moment...Mommy, Daddy and Babies...for the first time...our world was complete! I was so thankful to God for these precious miracles and I wanted to hold them so bad!
I have to admit, they were beautiful! Some newborns aren't - they'are all smushy and red - but c-section babies are beautiful b/c they haven't been in distress or pushed etc. and my babies were breathtaking! I had some complications with blood loss etc. so they had to sedate me while they finished up the surgery and they then took the babies to the nursery to be examined.
I woke up in recovery and kept asking where my babies were...i wanted to see them and hold them so bad! They finally wheeled me to my room and Brian was behind us pushing the babies in their crib thing. I remember the nurse turning around and saying "come on dad" and he said he "didn't want to bump them" so he was eeeking down the hallway going super slow - it was so cute! We got in the room and I finally got to see and hold my precious babies - it was love at first sight! They were so tiny and precious and all was right with the world!
We were in the hospital for a week! The babies were ready to go home before Mommy - i had some blood pressure issues to work out...but finally we all got to go home! The car ride home from the hospital was eventful! The babies were loaded into the car seats and were so tiny we had to stuff blankes and towels around them. Brian and I were in the front seat. We weren't but a few blocks from the hospital and we pulled over to check on them. Their poor little heads were bobbing everywhere - they were so tiny....so Brian was goign to get in the back seat with them and help support them...that meant I had to drive...after just having a c-section! I literally drive 20 miles an hour the whole way home with people passing me right and left...oh well! I had precious cargo!
